Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Strategists parties.
