Vehicles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Police mentioned they were notified by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police report initial examinations show the fluid was probably human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.

A senior representative said the incident left him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
